Christ alive, how is this so good? Two current faves (The xx and Florence + the Machine) gettin it on all collabo style is what I am talking about.
It’s been a little over a year since the global financial implosion and obviously we’re all still reeling.
Read this and you will feel simultaneously both better and worse — better because gaining insight into the crisis is always a plus, but worse because you’ll see how the sausage gets made during Wall Street deals.
And in those final days before Lehman fell, it’s less like sausage-making and more like a languorous stroll through the abattoir.
Here’s my question re: Balloon Boy controversy — what would have been the preferred outcome?
A) the six-year old actually being trapped inside the dirigible and so falling to his death as cameras recorded every grisly moment;
OR
B) the six year old actually being trapped inside the dirigible which was shot down by the authorities which leads to his rumble and tumble death in the Denver suburbs.
Seriously? We’re all feeling so hard down by for that hour watching CNN which was “wasted” on the coverage of a non-story. Every thing CNN covers is a non-story. Wolf Blitzer covered Anna Nicole’s death like he was napalming the fields. Nothing was alive when he left. We’re all horrified and stunned by the lack of the usual fucking outcome. The death result ironically would have birthed a myriad of other stories, such as:
1) Hot-air balloon safety inquiries;
2) 24 coverage of Falcon’s funeral complete with setting free doves off at sunset;
3) Concerned reports regarding the other two children left in the care of those two incompetent parents.
Let’s all get down off that high, oh so high, hobby horse that prevents us from feeling capable of human compassion. So the dad’s a shyster! So’s everyone who was complicit in snowballing this story into a national event.
